Leahy

March 9, 2019 7:30 pm. Since their emergence on the Canadian music scene in the late 1990's with their chart-topping instrumental single "Call to Dance", Leahy have cemented a place as one of Canada's most recognizable celtic-roots bands.Forebear Michael Leahy arrived in North America in 1825 from Ireland and brought with him a rich musical tradition that has passed down through the generations. Each of the Leahy children learned to play the fiddle from their father, while their mother - who was raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia - taught them to sing, dance, and play the piano.Their career exploded in the mid-1990's after signing with Virgin Record, and their debut eponymous album went on to sell 200,000 copies in Canada and earned them 3 Juno awards. To date, Leahy have sold more than half a million albums worldwide, been the feature of numerous PBS specials. For their latest album, Good Water, the band worked with Grammy-Award winning producer David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, RUSH, Smashing Pumpkins), and is already being regarded as their most ambitious recording to date. Good Water is due out in the winter of 2019.. 53 Elgin StreetOttawa, ON K1P 5W1.. Event Details. Location: 53 Elgin Street, Ottawa
