You will be encouraged to make larger one of a kind projects in a state-of-the-art facility with the all the expertise you require.Tony Clennell, MFA, RCABiography: Tony is a second generation potter that has taught workshops in Canada, USA, Japan, China, Korea, Wales and Italy. He has a Master of Fine Arts from Utah State University and is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. Attention will be paid to the details of large casseroles, pitchers, bowls, baskets and plates so they may be used for celebration and presentation.Tony's specialty over the years has been sectional or composite throwing where he adds many pieces together to make one vessel. He has developed a signature with the use of thrown, pulled and hand built handles. Extreme handles are his specialty.His recent work has included puncheong stamping and the use of thick slips for a tactile geological surface to the work. The maker's marks and details of process are what he is interested in leaving in the finished work.Although he does wood firing he has made his living for the past decade almost exclusively glazing and firing a carbon trap shino glaze over multiple slips in a gas fired kiln.On the Sunday afternoon depending on the size of the group it is often worth while to include a group critique.
