May 26, 2017 8:00 pm. Born in Toronto of a Portuguese father and a French-Canadian mother, Anthony Gomes has been playing guitar since he was a teenager, inspired by B. B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. During a brief stint in Chicago with Magic Slim and the Teardrops, he started his own band, winning Buddy Guy's Legends Best Unsigned Blues Band award. He also proved his chops by climbing to the top of the Billboard Top Blues Albums Chart several times.
